Retail Man POS

Version 2.1.33 or Retail Man was released in October. This included more than 7 months worth of fixes and enhancements. The enhancements included changes to the Stock screen and changes to handling of multi-currency. Any customers who have purchased Version 2.1.x can upgrade to Version 2.1.33 at no cost. We are seeing more use of Retail Man POS in larger stores and stores with a large number of sales. There are limits on the capacity of Retail Man. Where there are more than 500 transactions per day, customers should consider upgrading to Ezi Solution POS. This has much higher capacity and has more resilience as there is a local database for each POS station.

Many customers prefer the flexibility of renting Retail Man POS. The initial cost of renting is lower, with prices starting at USD99 per year. Should your business change its name or stop trading, then the next rental period can be with the new name of the business. At the time of renewal of a rental, the price will include the cost of upgrading to the latest version of Retail Man POS. Support for an extra POS station can be added for USD40 per year.

Retail Man POS includes tools to integrate with web stores, including those Using OpenCart. If you are thinking about selling products on the Internet, then we suggest that you check to see if Retail Man POS will integrate with your chosen E-Commerce provider.

Ezi Accounting

Version 2.1.33 or Ezi Accounting was released in October. This included more than 13 months worth of fixes and enhancements. There are several changes to reports and reconciliations, as well as changes to the Stock screen. Any customers who have purchased Version 2.1.x can upgrade to Version 2.1.33 at no cost. Ezi Signage

Customers of Ezi Solution Systems are invited to evaluate the use of Digital Signage to promote their business. Why not use some wall space in your store or space in shop window to mount a large screen to display information to customers on products, services or special offers, together with items of general interest like news, weather and traffic information? Customers will be attracted to your store and my find out about products that they wish to find out more or buy. Digital Signage can also be used in schools, colleges, businesses and transport facilities to give information to staff, students and customers. High resolution images and media are needed as screens for Digital Signage tend to be large.

Ezi Signage supports use of Split Screens, Live TV, Video, Tickers, RSS, Web Sites, Images and Power Point to produce dynamic and effective Digital Signage. One Media Player is needed for each screen. Several screens can be managed by one installation of Campaign Manager. software. Customer Survey

A big thank you to all customers that completed our first Customer Survey, which was published in February. Your feedback will help Ezi Solution Systems to shape the development of the products and services. The feedback was generally very positive, and we are now aware of some areas where we need to improve.

For the technically minded, the Net Promoter Score from the survey was 34. There is room for improvement, but we have a better NPS than many much larger companies.

Ezi Accounting Version 2.1.31

As an introduction to Digital Signage, for a limited period only there is a 5% discount on all orders for products from Ezi Signage. This can be a 5% discount on the price or 5% more days for the same price.

Customers are recommended to prepare artwork for signage or find existing artwork that can be used for the evaluation. Artwork can include images, video, Flash and live web sites.

A full function evaluation for 30 days is free for customers of Ezi Solution Systems, others pay a nominal cost of US$1.

Ezi Signage will give credits for extended use from customers that send us pictures of their Campaign Manager / CM Player in use.

Ezi Solution Systems is pleased to announce the launch of Ezi Solution POS.

Ezi Solution POS is powerful and scalable Point of Sale software for larger stores and for stores with high volumes of transactions. For maximum performance and reliability each POS station has a local database that can run standalone, with the ability to synchronise with the database on the server.

Ezi Solution POS is recommended for stores with more than 500 transactions per day or where a high availability solution is needed.  Larger tables are partitioned so that transactions are stored by month, allowing more transactions to be stored, and making queries faster. Prices start at USD1499.

The list price of Software and Support from Ezi Solution Systems is in US dollars. Base prices on EziSales.com are GB Pounds. Some customers prefer to buy in GB Pounds or a currency that is converted to GB Pounds. We review the pricing in GB Pounds from time to time, the pricing may then be updated. As a result of the vote in the UK referendum on membership of the European Union, the value of the GB Pound has fallen significantly. It will take several days to stabilise.

Prices on EziSales.com will be updated on 1st July. It is not yet clear what the new exchange rate will be, but prices may increase by as much as 8%. Customers  may like to take advantage of the current pricing.

There is a wide choice of Cloud based accounting solutions available for businesses in the UK and many countries. Traditionally most businesses used Accounting software installed on a local computer, but use of Cloud based software is gaining rapidly in popularity. What are the risks and benefits of each approach? Awareness of these should help customers decide what solution is best for them.

Cloud Based

  • Data is regularly backed up by supplier?
  • Flexible access from several locations
  • Depends on Internet for access
  • How private are your client details and financials?
  • Interfaces to bank and payment systems?
  • Software updates are included
  • Monthly subscription only, so can be costly over several years
  • Data will be lost at the end of the subscription
  • Data will only be on the Cloud unless downloaded to Local computer or server

Security and privacy are potential risks for Cloud based solutions. It is vital that passwords are complex and changed regularly. The privacy of data is the responsibility of the service provider. The data is potentially visible during transfers between the Cloud and your Local computer.

Local Installation

  • Backups are the responsibility of the customer, ensure that they are stored securely!
  • Access is on the local computer or laptop only
  • No Internet is access is needed
  • Client details and financials are as secure as the computer or laptop
  • Accounting Software updates are optional and the responsibility of the customer
  • Options for monthly or annual subscription, or purchase are options
  • When purchased, upgrades to Accounting software can be purchased and applied when required or recommended.

Backup and reliability of data are potential risks for local software. It is vital that data is backed up regularly and stored away from the local computer. The privacy of data is the responsibility of the customer. Windows updates, Anti Virus software and security are the responsibility of the customer, these will help to protect the data.

Good Practice

  • Use an established supplier for Cloud based services
  • Regularly create a backup or export, and store them remotely in a safe place
  • Regularly print out financial reports and store them in a safe place
  • Regularly create an extract or report that lists customers and suppliers and store them in a safe place
  • Use a lockable metal cabinet or fire safe to store key documents and backups for your business
  • Ask your book keeper or accountant for suggestions on good practice.
